If you use an email address to create your account, that address cannot be reused if you later decide to delete your ChatGPT account.

    • URL: open a web browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.) and go to https://www.openai.com

    • Navigation: Click on the "Products" tab at the top of the page and select "ChatGPT" from the dropdown menu. Alternatively, you can go directly to https://chat.openai.com.

    • Click the "Sign Up" button, usually located at the top right corner of the ChatGPT page.

    • Email Signup: You can create an account using your email address.

      • Enter your email address in the provided field and click "Continue."

      • Create a strong password (use at least eight characters, including letters, numbers, and special symbols) and click "Continue."

    • Social Media Signup: Alternatively, you can use an existing Google or Microsoft account by clicking the corresponding button. This method is often quicker and more convenient for many users.

    • Check your email inbox for a verification email from OpenAI.

    • Open the email and click on the verification link. If you do not see the email, check your spam or junk folder.

    • Once verified, the link will redirect you back to the ChatGPT page to continue the setup.

    • Enter your first and last names when prompted. This information is used to personalise your experience.

    • Provide your date of birth. Note that the service is typically restricted to users aged 13 and above, and users under 18 may require parental consent.

    • Enter your mobile phone number. OpenAI uses this number for verification purposes to secure your account.

    • You will receive a code via SMS. Enter this code on the website to complete the verification process.

    • Take a moment to read through the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Understanding these documents helps you know your rights and responsibilities while using ChatGPT.

    • Click the "Accept" button to proceed.

    • Set your notification preferences to receive updates or promotional information from OpenAI if you wish.
