IN THIS LESSON

Creating your first “real” prompt

In Lesson 2, you created a prompt asking ChatGPT to help you decide what to include in your custom instructions. Now it’s time to create a prompt that has meaning for you, whether it’s simple or not.

You can create your own, but here’s an example of something simple that may be of interest to you.

Try this prompt

I’m looking to start a small gardening project in my backyard. Can you suggest a few low-maintenance plants that thrive in a warm climate, along with tips for getting started?

This prompt is relatively simple but shows how to combine context and personas.

What’s the Context?

Four things pop out of this prompt:

  1. The project (a small gardening project)

  2. The location (a backyard)

  3. The criteria (low-maintenance plants)

  4. The environment (warm climate)

What’s the Persona?

  1. Someone interested in gardening but likely not a professional

  2. Someone who prefers low-maintenance solutions, suggesting they may not want or have the time for a complex garden

  3. Someone in a warm climate, which influences the types of plants suitable for their project

Lesson 3 Summary

In this lesson you’ve learned how to create a simple prompt incorporating context and personas. Now it’s time for you to create one of your own.
